VEYRA — STUDY 01
An original sculptural sans Study.
Version 0.102 / October 2026

START HERE
Open specimen.html in a browser. The font and outline explorer are embedded,
so the specimen works offline. Type your own text, change the size and spacing,
switch its background, or inspect a character's actual vector outline.

INSTALL
Open output/Veyra-Regular.otf (or the TTF) in Font Book and choose Install.
Both desktop files contain the same design; install just one format.
The WOFF2 is provided for web use.

INCLUDED
- Veyra Regular in OTF, TTF, and WOFF2 formats
- 312 glyphs / 311 encoded characters
- Uppercase, lowercase, lining tabular numerals, punctuation, currency symbols
- Latin accents, extended Latin letters, and 3,341 expanded kerning pairs
- Interactive HTML specimen and PNG specimen
- Editable Python outline source, outline JSON, and OpenType kerning source

DESIGN
Concave stems end in more pronounced flares; the revised Regular has fuller strokes. Broad bowls have diagonal stress.
An ascending e crossbar, diamond-shaped i/j dots, an open descending g,
and a curved R leg establish the character. Every outline was drawn for
this project; no existing typeface outlines were used as a base.

STATUS
This is a regular-weight development font, suitable for evaluating the
direction in layouts. It is unhinted and has not undergone broad cross-platform
QA. Italics, additional weights, variable axes, and combining-mark positioning
are not included. Precomposed accented characters are provided; normalize
decomposed text to NFC when necessary. Veyra is the working family name.

REBUILD
Python dependencies: fonttools 4.66.1, skia-pathops 0.9.2, brotli 1.2.0,
uharfbuzz 0.56.2, Pillow.
Run source/build.py, then source/make_specimen.py, then source/validate.py.
The project-local .dependencies folder contains font-building dependencies;
add that directory to PYTHONPATH when using those local libraries.

The HTML specimen embeds its font. Its download links point to the output
directory, so keep that directory beside specimen.html.

VALIDATION
All three font formats were reopened and their cmap, naming, glyph bounds,
and tabular advances checked. TTF and OTF were rendered with FreeType.
HarfBuzz verified kerning on AV, To, and accented variants. CSS/DOM tests exercise the editor, revised sample, and vector explorer at
desktop and mobile defaults. Actual browser rendering is unverified because
the browser tool blocks local file URLs.

REVISION 0.101
A fuller Regular and more visible flares give the design more presence.
The e crossbar has a stronger upward slope and a clean outer termination.
The u now overlaps its right stem; y has a continuous arm/tail outline;
v and V have flat, undented vertices; k and K have coherent arm/leg joins.
The weight adjustment adds six units to each edge and preserves each
glyph's vertical extents. Advance widths are unchanged. Seven pairs receive
spacing corrections for the wider outlines, inherited by accented forms.
Both desktop formats pass connected-outline tests after six-unit erosion
on u/y/v/k/V/K. All 2,704 basic Latin pairs pass an outline collision audit.
The embedded font and every vector in the explorer use the revised master.
proofs/Revision-Comparison.png shows the original and revised drawings.
If an older Veyra is installed, replace it with v0.102 and reopen the app.

EDITOR CHECKS
Install the Node.js packages linkedom and cssom, then run:
  node source/test-specimen.cjs
These verify DOM behavior; they are not a substitute for browser rendering.

COORDINATED STUDY EDITION
The current specimen has seven sections: large cover, font information, full
character set, eight sizes, dense poster, interactive glyphs and font in use.
A matching seven-page vector PDF is in output/pdf/. The font-in-use example
is an imagined application. Study is the shared identity across the series.
The shared builder is ../type-studies/source/build.py; its config, CSS and
JavaScript are included in the complete Study collection. The existing font
proof builder calls it automatically when that shared folder is available.
Use the complete collection archive to rebuild or navigate all five studies.

REVISION 0.102
The capital M diagonals meet the cap line cleanly; the stepped shoulder is
removed. The derived trademark glyph is rebuilt from the corrected M.
